110 – Flying Heads – Northville, NY

Play

On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett are loading the van for a trip into the forest in Adirondack Park, in Northville, New York.

Brett is self-medicating with probiotics, and that is not the weirdest thing that is happening in this episode.
We are investigating the Flying Heads, a cannibalistic monster or spirit from Iroquois and Wyandot mythology. This legend breaks all of the rules, so don’t try to use your movie knowledge to get away from this show.

Northville, NY is just one of the towns that is associated with the Adirondack Park, and there is something for everyone here. Its 6 million acres is home to 105 villages and they never lock the gates. This place has an endless selection of breathtaking hiking trails, kayaking, canoeing, breweries, wineries and more.

Harley and Brett found another Travel Oddities first, a restaurant that you can float right up to. Float into the Sports Island Pub and Restaurant and have yourself a cheesesteak!

109 – Lalaurie Mansion – New Orleans, LA

Play

On this week’s episode, Harley and Brett are gearing up for Mardi Gras in the most unique city in America, New Orleans, Louisiana.

Harley is a year older and apparently the light is fading fast…you know, because he is 44.

We have a great interview with Lyn Gibson, aka The Twisted Southern Horror Queen about Madame Lalaurie and the Lalaurie Mansion. Madame Lalaurie might have been the sickest person alive at the time.

New Orleans is one of the world’s most fascinating cities – it’s home to a truly unique melting pot of cultures, and we explore some of the more unusual aspects.

We found a way to get a real behind-the-scenes look at New Orleans Mardi Gras at Mardi Gras World.

Harley and Brett never stop scouring a town until we find something awesome to eat…and we found the fat dude at BigCheezy at Henry’s uptown Bar. This place takes the grilled cheese to a whole new level.

The Travel Oddities Top Five is full of music and good times, just like New Orleans, LA.

No Episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast would be complete without a place to grab a bite, the boys give you the “skinny” on Fat Randi’s Bar and Grill and why Iowa has a state bird, rock, flower and apparently a state sandwhich.

Brett’s Top 5 is a top 5 of epic perportions only because he never stays on topic

Brett and Harley ‘It’s better to burn out than to Fae away’ I believe that’s the saying. The Fairy welcoming committee is well under way. Can Brett find it in his heart to open his mind, body and spirit to the the fae. Tune in next time to find out if it was a Bang or Bust.
