84 – Meriwether Lewis Conspiracy – Hohenwald, TN

Play

Amy, Brett and Harley have been scheming and plotting lots of new material and formats for the show. On this week’s episode, Harley and Amy skip the travel by sea and opt for the sketchier Natchez Trace, a dangerous trail in a very remote area of Tennessee…or at least it used to be during the late 1700’s. Now the town of Hohenwald, TN is like a step back in time with a diverse mix of sites all packed into a small area – an Amish settlement and General Store, award-winning wineries, working Alpaca and horse farms, a 1960’s era commune and streams, waterfalls, and beautiful forests.

We cover the conspiracy around the death of famed explorer, Meriwether Lewis of Lewis & Clark fame.

The oddity of this conspiracy is that it seems to have been largely ignored by history

The views from the Natchez Trace are incredible and the entire area is steeped in history.

If you are planning a trip to visit the grave of Lewis, there is plenty of other things to do in the area…so make a few days of the trip.

No Episode of the Travel Oddities Podcast would be complete without a place to grab a bite, and you cannot beat a place with a name like the Junkyard Dog Steakhouse. Warning: They do not serve elephant.

The Tennessee Top 5 has Goo Goo Clusters!
